Carbon removal by storing biomass in sealed, underground chambers of a coal mine

The project achieves carbon removal by storing biomass in sealed, underground chambers of a coal mine, preventing decomposition and long-term CO₂ release. Sawmill residues (sawdust) are collected, transported, and securely deposited underground. These chambers provide a stable, oxygen-limited environment that ensures permanent carbon sequestration. By repurposing abandoned coal infrastructure for carbon storage, the project effectively offsets emissions while preventing biomass decomposition products from re-entering the carbon cycle.
