A Greek-based initiative combating beach litter through volunteer cleanups
A project dedicated to reducing waste in aquatic ecosystems, particularly on Greek beaches. Through organised volunteer cleanups and public awareness campaigns, the project addresses the serious ecological, economic, and aesthetic consequences of beach litter, with a focus on single-use plastics.

In March 2026, to celebrate 10 years of action, iSea brought together over 800 people across Thessaloniki to raise awareness of marine conservation and inspire positive change. The celebrations culminated in four clean-up events, with 260 volunteers removing more than 1,300 kg of marine litter. Photo credit: iSea
Among the items collected during the latest beach clean up were tires, part of a chemical toilet, and as alway single-use plastics!
In November 2025, iSea carried out a beach cleanup in the Amvrakikos Gulf, Greece. A total of 51 kg of waste was removed from an area of 3,604 m².
